Various tourism services and activities for 3-day National Day holiday

Public sector employees nationwide have 3 days off work for this year’s National Day (2 September).

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, Da Nang is likely to have welcomed an estimated 143,423 visitors during the 3-day break holiday, up by 12.9% compared with the same period last year.  Of this figure, international tourist arrivals is expected to have surged by 51.5% to an estimate of 43,427, whilst domestic visitors are predicted to have risen by 1.7% to an estimated 99,996.

Taking advantage of the upcoming holiday break, many local travel agencies, accommodation establishments and the tourist sites are offering many tourism services and activities to satisfy the growing demand for entertainment and relaxation during the period.

The Empire Group, the developer of the Da Nang Cocobay Entertainment and Tourism Complex in Ngu Hanh Son District, recently launched its Coco Bus Tour using open-top double-decker buses.  Buses run every 30 minutes from 7.00am to 10.00pm every day.  One-way tickets for adults are priced at 250,000 VND per person, and are valid for 24 hours after activation.  The tickets can be used for both routes, and passengers can hop on or off the buses at any stops.  Encouragingly, Coco Bus Tour is offering a 50% discount on tickets from early September to late November 2017.

The B’estival 2017 beer festival, the largest of its kind in Viet Nam, is being organised at Du Dome Square in the French Village at the Ba Na Hills Resort between 1 and 3 September from 10.00am to 3.00pm daily.  Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy craft beers from 2 brand names, Redrock and Gauden, which are produced in Viet Nam using German technology.  To enrich the flavours of the beers, various food dishes can be purchased, such as BBQ meats, German sausages, and salted bread, which add to the experience of Western cuisine.  Admission fee is 600,000 VND per person, including 2-way cable car ticket and entertainment activity fee.

The Lai Thieu Eco-tourism area has emerged as an attractive new attraction for locals and visitors.  Tickets are only 50,000 VND per adult and 30,000 VND per kid (under 1.3m tall).  The visitors will have the opportunity to visit numerous fruit-laden orchards in the village, enjoy sightseeing boat tours and participate in interesting team-building activities. 

In an attempt to attract more clients, the city’s branch of Vietravel is offering a 49% discount on tours to Singapore, Dubai, Chiangmai, Bangkok and other countries. 

In a similar vein, many accommodation establishment and tourism service providers will keep their service prices unchanged and offer many promotion programmes for their clients during the holiday break.

Moreover, many meaningful exhibitions will take place across the city during the break. A fine arts exhibition entitled ‘A Glimpse of Da Nang’ is taking place at Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, 78 Le Duan, until 7 September.  The event features around 60 works of fine arts by local painters, and these works showcase the beauty of the land and people of Da Nang, as well as the painters’ great love for the city.  Admission is free for visitors, and the opening times are 8.00am - 5.00pm daily.  Organised at the Museum of Da Nang at 24 Tran Phu, the Da Thanh Antiques’ Fair is also being opened to public until 3 September.  Admission fee is 20,000 VND per person, and the opening times are 8.00am - 5.00pm daily.

During the holiday break, locals and visitors will be treated to various interesting arts performances.  They are: the ‘Joining Efforts to build a City of 4 Safe Programmes’ on the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge on 3 September evening; the ‘ Love Songs for the country’ at a square in front of the headquarters of the Lien Chieu District People’s Committee on 1 September evening; and the Street arts programme on a section of Tran Hung Dao, between its intersections with Ly Nam De and Trieu Viet Vuong streets on 2 September evening, from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

On 2 and 3 September, the Vu Lan Festival, which is known as Buddhist Mother’s Day in Viet Nam, will be held at the Am Phu (Hell) Cave, the longest and most mysterious at the Marble Maintains Tourism Site.  Also there will be arts exhibitions, calligraphy performances and a vegetarian food festival at the same venue.

As part of the celebrations for the 72nd National Day, the 2017 Da Nang Open Traditional Boat Race for the VTV8 Cup will begin at 7.30am on 2 September on the Han River.  Co-organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, and the city’s branch of Viet Nam Television (VTV), the event will see the participation of male and female racers from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.
