The news was officially released at a recent meeting, chaired by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien.

At the meeting, representatives from the real estate developer Sun Group, the organisers of next year’s festival, and others from relevant local agencies, presented their preparatory plans for next year’s event.

Sun Group will be responsible for appealing for donations from generous sponsors for this large-scale international cultural event.

As scheduled, DIFF 2018 will take place between 29 April and 30 June 2018.

The fireworks will be released on either Saturdays or Sundays, and 2 teams will perform each night.

In detail, the Da Nang-Viet Nam and Poland teams will perform on 29 April, whilst France and the US on 26 May, Italy and Hong Kong (China) on 2 June, and Sweden and Portugal on 9 June.

The festival’s last date, the grand finale featuring the 3 best teams from the 8, will take place on 30 June.

The fireworks will be set off at the former Han River Port near the Novotel on Bach Dang, whilst viewing stands for spectators will be set up on the eastern bank of the Han River, again as in previous years.

On the sideline of next year’s 2-month-long festival, both local residents and visitors arriving in the city will be treated to a wide range of exciting cultural activities.

Notable amongst the support events will be a fascinating street carnival, a joint-performance flashmob show for local students and pupils, and a special cuisine festival.

In particular, a total of between 60 and 70 colourful hot air balloons will fly over Da Nang from 1 until 26 May 2018, on the sideline of DIFF 2018.

Subject to wind direction, they are expected to intend to fly over the peaceful Hoa Trung Lake, near the Da Nang Hi-tech Park project.

The funding for the performances of these balloons will come from public donations.

Vice Chairman Mien underlined the importance of taking effective measures by the festival’s organisers to fight against such issues as the trade in fake tickets which are usually offered for sale at prices much lower than the authentic ones, and unreasonable tour prices and room fares during DIFF 2018.
