The fireworks festival themed 'The Legend of Bridges' will feature performances from a total of 7 teams from Poland, France, the US, Italy, Hong Kong, Sweden, Portugal and the host country on the Han River.
Scores of activities are expected to take place on the sidelines of the firework competition, including a food festival, a flash mob dance performance for students, and a street carnival show.
Held for the first time in 2008, the event, formerly known as the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC), has emerged as an important cultural and tourism event, contributing to cultural exchanges and wooing many foreign tourists to Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.
This year marks an important milestone of the international-level competition as the event was renamed with 8 international teams attending. Da Nang is expected to welcome 6.6 million visitors in total this year, an increase of 19% against last year.
Meanwhile, the number of international tourist arrivals to Viet Nam between January and November totalled 11.6 million, a pickup of 27.8% from the same period last year, according to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.
