Team Da Nang wins gold and silver medals at national folk music festival
The Da Nang arts troupe has clinched a silver medal at an on going national festival of folk singing and musical instruments of the 3 Vietnamese regions.
In addition, the Da Nang team won a gold medal for singing the ‘Thanh Pho Ben Song Han’ (The Han Riverside city) song, and 3 silvers for their performances of central folk singing, dancing and instrumental music.
Running from 20 to 25 October, the festival is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the northern Quang Ninh Province People’s Committee, attracting a total of more than 1,000 artistes hailing from 24 cities and provinces nationwide.
The event aims to introduce and promote the values of intangible cultural heritages through folk melodies, folk dances, and traditional musical instruments of different regions in association with social life, meeting the demand of cultural enjoyment of the masses.
It also gives the chance for artistes, actors and musicians to learn and exchange their professional experiences with one another in order to enhance the quality and effectiveness of cultural and arts activities, hereby helping to preserve and promote the value of the traditional music of the 54 Vietnamese ethic groups.
The event features 7 competition nights and 2 night-time shows for the public in the cities of Ha Long, Cam Pha and Uong Bi in Quang Ninh Province.
Team gold medals have been awarded to 11 municipal/ provincial delegations, and team silvers for the 13 remaining ones. Alongside, gold and silver medals have gone to 29 and 59 performance items, respectively.
