A highly-expected festive fair to welcome in the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) 2019 festival will take place on Saturday, 26 January, at the Museum of Da Nang, at 24 Tran Phu. The event aims to preserve the special traditional cultural values, and to bring interesting and meaningful experiences to both local inhabitants and tourists, especially children.

The one-day traditional Tet fair will feature well-designed stands advertising such specialities of Da Nang and the neighbouring province of Quang Nam as Nam O fish sauce, and Mrs Lieu Kho Me (sesame cake), Tuy Loan rice paper, agricultural products of Cotu ethnic minority people, and traditional cakes.

In addition, visitors to the event will learn about how to make traditional products by themselves under the guidance of experienced artisans, and immerse themselves into interesting folk activities such as creating traditional rice powder figurines, making ‘banh chung’ (square glutinous rice cake), doing calligraphy, making coconut jam, and decorating conical hats.

Besides, a wide range of fun games, including tug of war, bag jumping, jumping stall, throwing balls into baskets, and beating drums, are expected to bring bustling joyful and memorable moments to visitors.

To date, traditional Tet fairs have been deeply rooted in many generations as they vividly reflex features of the people's cultural and spiritual life. Visiting such a meaningful year-end event is not only for shopping, but it also offers a chance to enjoy spring ambience.
