B1 Hong Phuoc revolutionary base recognised as municipal-level relic site
Following recent approval by the Da Nang People’s Committee, the B1 Hong Phuoc revolutionary base located in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District has been recognised as a municipal-level relic site for better preservation.
Hong Phuoc (given the secret code name B1) was one of the city’s most important revolutionary bases during the 2 past resistance wars against the French colonialists and the US imperialists. In the resistance war against the US, Hong Phuoc Village was home to 64 families, and together they dug 46 secret shelters for use as hiding places for Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers. The villagers made great efforts to help Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers fight against the enemy, and win numerous resounding battles.
On 26 April, 2016, the State President signed a decision to confer the title ‘Hero of the People’s Armed Forces’ to military officers, soldiers and people at the B1 Hong Phuoc site in recognition for their outstanding achievements during the resistance war against the US troops for national reunification.
