200 year-old cannon discovered at Lien Chieu Beach
A 200-year old cannon was discovered on Thursday afternoon by a group of workers along the Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Da Nang. It was then handed over to the Museum of Da Nang for preserving on Friday morning.

Mr Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, the Director of the museum, said that the bronze cannon was smaller in size than such cannons on display at his museum.
He added the museum’s experts were conducting research into the newly-found cannon’s dates, and the inscriptions and patterns carved on it.
Most recently, the Da Nang authorities have asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognise a collection of cannons which were previously stored in the city’s former Dien Hai Citadel as national treasures. The cannons are now on display at the Museum of Da Nang.
