FIE mulls over establishment of fencing academy in the city
Mr Evgeny Tsoukhlo, the Sport and Technical Director of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), along with Mr Szabo Bence, a representative of the Executive Committee of FIE, on Tuesday, met with leaders of the Da Nang Athlete Training Centre to discuss the establishment of a fencing academy in the city.
Previously, through the introduction of Mr Pham Ngoc Chu, the Chairman of the Vietnamese Businesses’ Association in Hungary cum a member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, representatives from the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the Athlete Training Centre had met with the FIE leaders to recommend opening the academy in Da Nang.
It is known that FIE, the governing body of the Olympic sport of Fencing on a global level, has opened 2 fencing academies in Europe and Africa, and it is aiming to develop this type of sports in Asia.
On 18 October, Mr Szabo Bence conducted preliminary surveys of the Hoa Xuan Gymnasium and the residential area of the Athlete Training Centre. Meanwhile, Mr Evgeny Tsoukhlo paid inspection visits to these venues on Tuesday afternoon for the possible establishment of the fencing academy in Da Nang.
