Travellers stuck in Da Nang due to the coronavirus outbreak have showed their sentimental attachment to Da Nang, and some of them said they will return to Da Nang after the city succeeds in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Ms Pham Thi Huyen from Ha Noi said that she was one of the first 207 travellers stranded in Da Nang to have been brought back to Ha Noi on a Vietnam Airlines-operated flight which took off at 11.30am on 12 August.

Huyen said that she stayed in Da Nang for nearly 1.5 months. She remarked that she felt very secure during her stay in the city amid concerns about the spread of Covid-19 because she received active support by the municipal authorities and the Tourist Support Centre's staff.

Nguyen Son Ha, a male resident of Ha Noi’s Ha Dong District, said “We are so touched by the kindness, great care that we have received from the municipal government and staff of the Tourist Support Centre during our stay in Da Nang”.

The Tourist Support Centre’s staff have been active in helping him and other stuck travellers book flights back to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, Ha said.

Ha said that he will come back to Da Nang in the near future because the city was very beautiful and local people was very kind and friendly.

Before leaving Da Nang for Ho Chi Minh City on 13 August, Ms Nguyen Thi Tuyet My from Dong Nai Province said this was not the first time she had visited Da Nang, but this was her most ‘impressive’ trip ever in the city.

During her family’s stay in the city, they received free essential items, and had their room rates reduced. They were taken to test for the virus and to Da Nang International Airport to fly home.

“The people of Da Nang are very enthusiastic and thoughtful. We will come back to the city after the pandemic is completely brought under control” said My.

Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air  operated 7 flights to bring all stuck tourists in Da Nang back to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City from 12-14 August.

Before leaving Da Nang, tourists received thank you gifts from the Da Nang Department of Tourism as a way to extend the city’s deep gratitude to tourists for having chosen Da Nang as their favourite travel destination.

Each of the gifts includes Ms Lieu ‘banh kho me’ (dried sesame seed cakes) and green bean cakes, and a thank you note from Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh.
