During the 2015 - 2020 period, Da Nang has prioritised investing in culture in a bid to realise its target of developing itself into a hub of culture and sports in Central Viet Nam, and Viet Nam at large, as well as becoming an attractive destination for international events and festivals.

The expansion of the existing APEC Park aims to create even more green spaces in the heart of the city.

Da Nang has seen boom in cultural and community entertainment facilities over the past 5 years in a bid to meet growing demand for entertainment from Da Nang citizens and tourists.

Notable amongst them are the new Da Nang General Science Library, the Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Fine Arts Museum, the Hoa Xuan Stadium, and the Tien Son Sports Arena.

In addition, the city has hosted a wide range of exciting cultural and entertainment activities, along with interesting events, for the enjoyment of the public. Included are the 20th Viet Nam Film Festival, arts programmes welcoming in the New Year, and the annual Da Nang's Expats Got Talent contest.

Another heed has been paid to managing, preserving and promoting the values of tangible and intangible cultural heritages in the city.

Da Nang has worked with governments of 9 central region provinces to ask the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognise ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards) as a national intangible cultural heritage. In 2017, UNESCO officially enshrined ‘bai choi’ in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Also, Da Nang government has prepared all necessary documents for the recognition of the Dien Hai Citadel and the Marble Mountains Tourist Area as special national-level relic sites.

In June, Da Nang government approved to provide more than 759 billion VND of funding to expand the existing APEC Park in Hai Chau District’s Binh Hien Ward.

Covering an area of 8,668m2, the expanded area will consist of a public park, a stroll garden associated with an existing sculpture garden, a main stage, a water fountain, a stage for organising cultural events, a playground for children, greenery areas, a parking area, and underground public toilets.

The expansion of this wonderful cultural landmark aims to create even more green spaces in the heart of the city, and allow diplomatic events and festivals to be held here as well.

In a similar vein, around 600 billion VND in grants from Da Nang government will go to upgrade the Thanh Khe District-based 29 March Park, and nearly one trillion VND of funding to build the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural and Historical Park in the city.

Da Nang is planning to develop more cultural facilities in an effort to meet the spiritual needs and aspirations of its citizens and tourists.

Specifically, work will start at the Museum of Cham Sculpture No 2 in Phong Le Village, Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District; the Da Nang Culture and Sports Centre; the Thanh Nien (Youth) Park; the Maritime Museum; the establishment of the square, with an emphasise on creating an entrance to Dien Hai from Quang Trung Street; and a Safari Park.
