The 20 best tennis players (10 men and 10 women) nationwide have been called up for Viet Nam’s national table tennis team in preparation for SEA Games 31 which will be hosted by Viet Nam in May and ASIAD 19 which is slated to take place in Hangzhou, China, in September.

The team have been under the guidance of Chinese expert Yu Zhiguo, along with Vietnamese coaches Le Huy, Dinh Quang Linh, and Vu Dinh Tuan.

As planned, during the gathering process, the team members will take part in three rounds of internal competitions to check their expertise before their coaches finalise athletes to officially compete in SEA Games 31.

Notably, on the eve of the SEA Games 31, the team members will have the opportunity to attend the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in Chengdu (China) from April 17 to 26, with the participation of the 40 best men’s and women’s teams around the world.

In 2021, due to the impact of COVID-19, Viet Nam’s table tennis players couldnot compete in the Asian Table Tennis Championships, the World Team Table Tennis Championships as well as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers.

Therefore, the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships is absolutely a golden opportunity for Vietnamese table tennis players to improve their skills, as well as for the coaching board to check the team's preparation process.

Previously, to prepare for the forthcoming SEA Games 31, the national table tennis team took a one-month training session in Hungary.
