From the perspective of photographer Huynh Van Truyen, the Chairman of Da Nang Photography Club, photography is a passion instilled in his blood as each photo captures a special life's magical moment.

In the past, Mr Huynh Van Truyen worked in business and this profession also brought him a decent income. However, his passion for photography was still smouldering in him for a long time back then so he still carried his camera to take photos around whenever having spare time. However, he gradually realized that photography was the passion of his life, so he quit his business and roamed around taking pictures. At first, his wife vehemently opposed this idea, but later she understood and supported her husband's preferences.

Mr Truyen said that he is into taking photos of everyday life which reflects the true image of workers, citizens and beautiful moments in life since they have a special attraction for him. In particular, he captured more than 20 sets of photos of the two coronavirus waves raging in Da Nang and thereby quite fully recorded activities in the pandemic prevention and control of the government, people, and medical staff as well as army.

Typically, his photo album "Resting minutes" depicting the precious resting moments of the medical staff in Son Tra district after taking samples for testing for thousands of foreigners residing as well as stranded in Da Nang due to the pandemic shows the hardships of white-robed doctors, the stress of the pandemic, along with the tireless efforts of the doctors and nurses. After that, "Resting minutes" won the second prize in the photo contest "Da Nang on the frontline against the COVID-19 " and the gold medal at the 26th South Central - Central Highlands Art Photo Festival - 2021.

In addition, during the last year's COVID-19 resurgence, at the border post in Axon - Quang Nam, Mr Truyen and the army team crossed the high and steep mountains to enter the border posts and shared meals with the soldiers to understand all the difficulties they have to undergo. At the photo exhibition "Proud of a border strip " organized by the Viet Nam Association of Photographic Artists in collaboration with other organizers, Mr Truyen’s photo series "Border checkpoints to protect the border against COVID-19” has excellently won the Gold Medal.

Recently, his photo series "Accessing the fire at Tho Quang Fishing Wharf” won the first prize in the photo and journalistic contest with the theme "Fire prevention, fighting and rescue " organized by the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department in collaboration with other units.

The series of photos depicts the fierce destruction of the "fire enemy" and shows the courage and high determination of the officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police under the Da Nang’s Police when rushing to extinguish the fire and save fishermen on the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year at the boat lock and Tho Quang fishing Wharf in Son Tra district.

Wherever there are hot spots, fires, or epidemics,  there are his footsteps as if there is an urge forcing him to rush into hot spots to record precious moments to promptly convey to readers the most authentic images. Probably, photography has not been just about taking pictures, but each photo also contains a separate story for readers.

As the Chairman of Da Nang Photography Club, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Da Nang Artistic photographers' Association, Mr Truyen and his friends in the Club's Executive Committee have organized numerous photo-capturing trips, talks sharing basic and advanced photography, and various photo contests and practical compositions for members, contributing to keeping the passion for photography alive.

However, having a bunch of works displayed at regional and national art exhibitions and winning nearly 100 awards in domestic and foreign photo contests has been not his ambition. For him, photography is the meaning of life, bringing joy and happiness for him when capturing "golden" moments that he always wanted.
