Photo exhibition depicts small world of Ha Noi's street vendors in the past
A photo exhibition entitled ‘Ganh Hang Rong va Nhung Tieng Rao Tren Duong Pho Ha Noi (The Ha Noi’s Street Vendors and Their Shouts) is taking place at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, 78 Le Duan Street.
Co-organised by the museum, the French Institute of Viet Nam in Da Nang, and the French School of the Far East, the exhibition features a collection of sketches, paintings and watercolors made by 15 students of the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine in Ha Noi (the current Viet Nam University of Fine Arts) and their lecturer, Ferdinand de Fénis, during the 1925 - 1929 period.
Displayed photos depict the vivid world of the street vendors who wander to every corner in the Vietnamese capital of Ha Noi with their shoulder baskets filled up with vegetables, fruit, or snacks.
The uniqueness of the drawings is the attractive depiction of street food and the capture of the musicality in the sales pitches used to invite customers.
Also on display at the exhibition are 27 black and white photos of the same theme and period which belong to the collection of the French School of the Far East through interactive art installations.
The exhibition runs until September 11.
