9th Da Nang Sports Games comes to successful end
The 9th Da Nang Sports Games wrapped up with a closing ceremony held on Wednesday morning. The event saw the attendance of municipal People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen.

In her remarks at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman Yen expressed her delight at the great success of the sporting event. She added competitions were organised in an attractive, fair and honest manner, thereby contributing to promoting the benefits of sports and physical training for people from all walks of life.
Vice Chairwoman Yen hoped that, in the coming time, in addition to national sportss, the city will continue to develop, adjust and update new sports which are responded to by the community, change the way to organise sports tournaments, and promote the development of sports movements among students, the elderly and people with disabilities.
Special attention should be paid to deploying programmes and projects to develop residents’ health and stature, and school sports movements, thereby further fostering the development of the city’s sports sector, added she.
The 9th Da Nang Sports Games in 2022 featured 21 sports, including chess, Chinese chess, cross-country running, table tennis, billiards, traditional martial arts, vovinam, men's and women's indoor volleyball, and men's and women's beach volleyball, men's and women's futsal, men's beach football, athletics, swimming, karate, taekwondo and badminton.

In the end, the organisers awarded 499 medals to outstanding athletes. Hai Chau District ranked first in the category of the whole delegation with a total of 47 gold, 26 silver and 29 bronze medals.
It was followed by Thanh Khe District with 30 gold, 30 silver and 34 bronze medals; Son Tra District with 21 gold, 18 silver and 26 bronze medals; Hoa Vang District with 20 gold, 23 silver and 35 bronze medals; Lien Chieu District with 11 gold, 21 silver and 28 bronze medals; Ngu Hanh Son District with 10 gold, 14 silver and 27 bronze medals; and Cam Le District with 8 gold, 15 silver and 26 bronze medals.
Also at the closing ceremony, 16 collectives and 13 individuals were presented with Certificates of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee, whilst 6 collectives and 9 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the local Department of Culture and Sports in recognition of their outstanding achievements in leading, directing, implementing and organising the 9th municipal-level Sports Games in 2022.
