Promoting development of badminton movement in Da Nang
Among the sporting movements in Da Nang, badminton is recognised as the most evenly developed and strongest sport. As COVID-19 has been well controlled in the city, many badminton tournaments have been successfully organized citywide with the participation of a large number of players, thereby gradually contributing to spreading the badminton movement far and wide.

One of the tournaments that are evaluated with high professional quality is the Labour Culture House's Traditional Badminton Tournament.
According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, Director of the Labor Culture House, 2022 is the third year that the unit organizes the traditional badminton tournament. Through each organization, the unit improves the quality and expands the scale, hereby facilitating many athletes to compete in.
The 3rd traditional badminton tournament attracted 224 badminton players from 22 teams who are officials and workers of trade unions, and members of badminton clubs citywide. At the tournament, the contestants were divided into three groups of ages: 18-29, 30-39 and over 40 years old and competed in 3 events: men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
The tournament aimed to seek talents to build and develop badminton movement at grassroots in particular, the city’s cultural and sports movement in general, said Mrs. Nhung.
In the plan to promote the development of the badminton movement, for many years, the city's sports industry has included this sport in list of competition sports at the annual sports game. At the recent 9th Sports Games in 2022, badminton was considered an exciting and attractive competition sport, attracting much attention from supporters.
In addition to municipal-level tournaments, the Da Nang Badminton Federation (DBF) has successfully organized tournaments with the participation of top Vietnamese badminton players.
Most recently, the 26th Da Nang Traditional Badminton Tournament for VN Da Thanh Group Cup has taken place at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena.
This year's tournament has attracted the participation of more than 500 players from 21 badminton clubs in Da Nang, and other provinces and cities with strong badminton movements nationwide, including Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai, and Hue. Included are famous badminton players such as Nguyen Tien Minh, Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Thuy Linh...
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Bao, Chairman of DBF, such tournaments aim to promote the development of badminton movements in the city, as well as look for excellent athletes for the city's badminton team.
Since early 2022, DBF has successfully organized 6 tournaments. Through the tournaments, it can be seen that the units, localities and clubs have focused on gradually improving the quality of players.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, badminton is interested and becomes a traditional sport with a tight competition system from grassroots to municipal levels.
Every year, the city's sports industry cooperates with units and localities to regularly organize tournaments, thereby creating opportunities for badminton players to exchange and learn about competition experience.
In the coming time, the city's sports industry will coordinate with DBF to organize more large-scale tournaments, especially for teenagers and children, in a bid to spread the badminton movement more widely, said Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao.
