Thorough preparations for successful 25th edition of Da Nang Newspaper Road Races
The Da Nang Newspaper on Thursday afternoon held a meeting to discuss preparations for the 25th edition of its Road Races. The event was attended by leaders of local relevant agencies.

The DA NANG Newspaper Road Races last year had to be cancelled because of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This sporting event has been brought back and it is scheduled to take place at the Tien Son Sport Arena on December 18.
This year will be the 25th edition of the races, and the event is expected to attract close to 900 runners from 80 government agencies and departments, senior high schools, junior colleges and universities across the city, plus Da Nang-based armed forces, along with 13 teams of professional runners from other parts of the country.
All team members will compete in both the individual and team events, and distances will include 1.5km, 2km, 3km, 4km, 5km and 7km across nine group categories. These groups are runners from junior high schools, senior high schools, agencies, businesses, educational institutions, amateur athletes, militia and self-defense forces, armed forces and professional athletes.
Co-organized by the newspaper, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the municipal Department of Education and Training, the city’s Military Command, and the municipal Police Department, the DA NANG Newspaper Road Races is one of the city’s sports competitions.
The DA NANG Newspaper Road Races is annual sports event which sees participation of professional runners, employees from government agencies and companies, students from junior and senior high schools, vocational schools, junior colleges and universities across the city, along with officers and men from the city-based armed forces.
Mr Truong Cong Duc, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Physical Training and Sports Center highlighted the center’s great efforts in making thorough preparations for successful 24 editions of the race over the past years. He remarked that the arrangement of facilities and running tracks for this year’s race has basically been completed. The center will hold a meeting with relevant units on December 14 to discuss ways to ensure that the sporting event is run safely and smoothly.
According to Mr. Mai Tan Linh, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, more than 130 students from 18 junior and senior high schools across the city have till date registered for the race. In their efforts to get the best possible results at the upcoming race, the student athletes are working hard at practice in order to ready to conquer the race.
In his remarks at Thursday’s meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nam, the Editor-in-Chief of Da Nang Newspaper and Head of the Races’ Organizing Committee highlighted the Newspaper’s successes with the organisation of 24 editions of the race over the past years, thereby creating positive social impact. He also called on relevant units to continue their efforts to ensure the safety of runners and the racetrack, as well as maintain the security and traffic safety during the event in order to contribute to the success of the upcoming sporting event.
