Promoting cultural identity of Co Tu people
The “Cultural - Sports Festival and Restoration of Co Tu’s Traditional Festivals” programme 2023 was officially opened at the Guol house in Gian Bi Village, Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, on Thursday.
The programme is part of the ongoing "Hoa Bac Tourism Week", aiming at celebrating the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30) and marking the death anniversary of Hung Kings on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month and International Labour Day (May 1).
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Hoa Vang District People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Dung highlighted the significance of the programme in honouring the solidarity of ethnic groups and cultural identity of the Co Tu people. He added that the Co Tu community played the role of a subject in the conservation and development of traditional cultural values associated with the current socio-economic development.
Over the past 15 years, the Hoa Vang District authorities have concentrated on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, and building the Co Tu cultural life in the district.
The Co Tu ethnic minority people together with the district authorities are constantly making efforts to develop culture through the restoration of traditional festivals and cultural and sports activities, increasing exchange activities and learning to enrich national cultural capital.
During the programme, visitors can enjoy performances of gongs and 'Tung tung da da' dances by Co Tu people, songs bearing the identity of the Co Tu people, and unique brotherhood ceremony.
