A meeting of DIFF "stars"

One of the highlights of DIFF 2023 is that 5 out of the 7 participating international fireworks teams have competed in previous DIFFs. They are Finland, Italy, Australia, Poland and the UK. Only two teams from France and Canada are "rookies". Therefore, this year's fireworks event promises for a bit of a surprise in the performances of the participants.

The defending champion of DIFF 2019, the Joho Pyro AB team from Finland, will continue to be one of the strong opponents at DIFF 2023.

With the theme of ‘Warm-up my heart’, the team’s performance will remind viewers of moments of resilience in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and a journey back to a normal life with intense emotions and love.

“The performance with rock-style music promises to bring elements of surprise and anticipation to audience. We will strike a balance between music and fireworks displays so that the audience cannot take their eyes off our performance” Mr. Johan Hollander, a media representative of the Finnish team, noted.

Meanwhile, the Martarello SRL company from Italy, the champions of DIFFs 2017 and 2018, will perform a fireworks show entitled ‘Ancient space and modern light’ inspired by the masterpiece of art “Ambiente spaziale a luce nera” (Spatial Environment in Black Light) by Lucio Fontana.

The Italy team will offer a performance that combines between music and light, and classical and modern factors, to light up the night sky of Da Nang.

According to Amiano Baraldo, a representative from Italy team, from the team's performance, the audience can expect a combination of different musical styles and pyrotechnic techniques.

“We will use effects, classical music, and powerful and vibrant fireworks effects for our performance, promising to bring beautiful and eye-pleasing images to the audience", he added.

Being the champion at DIFF 2015 and the runner-up at DIFF 2017, Team Howard and Son Pyrotechnics from Australia is too familiar with the Han River port shooting site.

The Australian team will give the audience a performance with 7,500 pyrotechnic devices, more than 3,000 flying fireworks, more than 3,000 single ignition fireworks and 200 multi-shot effects. It will be a concert with the vibrant atmosphere of dance music combined with the flexible colours of fireworks.

Team Howard and Son Pyrotechnics is a fireworks company with a long history in Australia and has participated in many competitions around the world. Therefore, at DIFF 2023, the team will recreate Australia's timeline from the catastrophic bushfires in early 2020 to the challenge of the pandemic.

Also, visitors will listen to stories about the ups and downs of Australia and the solidarity of Australian people, as well as see the nature, soul and way of life of people through a combination of sound and light in a 22-minute fireworks performance.

Coming to this year's event, DIFF 2019 runner-up, Team Pyrotex Fireworx Ltd from the UK will tell the audience a story with the theme ‘Light up the world’.

The performance is the story of challenges facing the world during two years of being impacted by COVID-19 and the happiness of returning to normal life. The team believes that there will be an extremely explosive performance with the skillful techniques.

Meanwhile, Team Surex Firma Rodzinna from Poland, which claimed the runner-up position at DIFF2015, will bring the audience a performance called ‘Fireworks Dragon’ which will reflect the majesty of Dragon along with the beauty of Da Nang.

Despite ups and downs, the fireworks dragon still flys in the sky of Da Nang in the joy and admiration of many tourists near and far.

The audience can wait for a performance that is the perfect synchronisation between music and fireworks, and great combination between elements of the ground and the sky to form special colours.

Waiting for new factors

Although it is the first time coming to DIFF 2023, teams from France and Canada have their own strengths.

Team Arteventia from France has won many great prizes at fireworks competitions worldwide such as first prizes in Belgium in 2022, and in the United States and Poland in 2019.

With a performance called ‘Colours of Hope’, the French team hopes to create different emotions for the audience. The performance is unique, and has its own creativity.

Team Hands Fireworks from Canada is expected to deliver a performance called ‘Aurora’ which is designed to showcase one of the best works of Canadian electronic music with beautiful light, colour and sound. The team carefully selects a performance that focuses on the unique sounds and rhythms of electronic music.

“Audiences in Da Nang get ready to travel on a journey of sound and light as we host a vibrant and memorable Canadian music performance through the  fireworks display” Claude Rioux from the Canadian team revealed.

Established in August 2008, the home team Da Nang -Viet Nam is the first representative of the country to participate in the international fireworks competition.

Although there are not many opportunities to participate in major international competitions, the team has grown through each competition.

Choosing the theme ‘Da Nang - The Sound of Peace’, the performance released by the home team is considered as welcome to international friends to Da Nang and Viet Nam as a whole.

The Da Nang team hopes that DIFF 2023 with sublimated emotions will erase all distances, unite the differences of love between humanity, and let international friends remember a Da Nang – Viet Nam with lots of beautiful memories of human love.

The performance will consist of 3 parts: Voice of the heart of Han Giang, The rhythm of Da Thanh, andDa Nang - Peaceful timbre.

It will be a combination of music and fireworks in the sky of Da Nang, creating a space of interference between music and colours, thereby contributing to honouring the value of peace, and strengthening the friendship between the peoples of the world.

DIFF 2023 stage is modernly designed

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group Central Region, the main stage of DIFF 2023 will have a modern and spacious style with water music and designs depicting bright fireworks in the sky.

In particular, there will be performances from artists from 25 countries worldwide. The high-tech system is equipped with feats to bring a bit of surprises in terms of sight and sound to the audience.

With a modern stage design and brilliant fireworks displays from experienced fireworks teams around the world, DIFF 2023 promises to create emotional fireworks nights on the Han River.
