The PAI index is a model built for the first time in Viet Nam and it was piloted in Phu Yen Province. Other provinces and cities such as Tuyen Quang, Khanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue participated and provided information to determine their PAI index.
The PAI index evaluates the interest of provinces and cities in welcoming film crews according to 5 criteria, namely financial support, information, fieldwork, legal procedures and available local infrastructure. PAI helps localities proactively enhance their attractiveness by introducing themselves, assessing readiness and having policies to welcome and support film projects. Thereby, attracting Vietnamese and international filmmakers and studios for film making.
Previously, at the activities of the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival, organised by the municipal People's Committee, in coordination with the Viet Nam Cinema Development Promotion Association, in May 2023, domestic and international filmmakers highly praised Da Nang for many cinema development advantages and potential. The city can build the film industry into a key cultural industry, one of three film centres in Viet Nam, thereby contributing to promoting economic growth and creating a position in the region.
