“The team came up with a practical design idea using 3D lighting techniques to implement awesome lighting for an eye-catching and impressive effect," Hong Thuy remarked.
Van Huu Toan, a member of the group HT1907, said that lighting will be installed in such locations of the inner city as the front of the Municipal Administrative Center Building, the two-lane entrance to Nguyen Van Linh street, the one-lane entrance to Le Duan Street, an area near the western end of the Dragon Bridge, the triangular space in front of the building of VTV 8 which is specialized channel of the Viet Nam Television Network for viewers in the Central region and Central Highlands, and large roundabouts. These places connect with popular tourist attractions, along with major streets, traditional markets, hotels, restaurants.
In detail, lighting decorations at the two-lane entrance to Nguyen Van Linh Street have a theme of ‘Harmonies of Heaven and Earth which is inspired by an idea of ‘The start of the Spring Season’ features the image of a flock of swallows flying from paper fans with Vietnamese traditional patterns by using illuminated lights. Lighting decorations at the T-shaped Bridge on Bach Dang Street which have a theme of ‘Da Nang Rises’ feature the image of the Chim Lac, the country’s mythical national bird found as intricate decorations on traditional Dong Son bronze drums in combination with the image of Vietnamese bamboo plant. Lighting decorations in the front of the Municipal Administrative Center Building feature a stylized dragon image to create a spring atmosphere with the use of yellow and green lights as the dominant colours in a bid to bring auspiciousness, prosperity and good luck to everyone while combining with detailed patterns to achieve overall harmony in this area. Moreover, lighting decorations featuring images of carp turning into dragons, festive miniatures Tet Holiday, clocks, ‘Ong Cong, Ong Tao’ (Land Genie and Kitchen Gods), the sea and more will be installed in the remaining localtions.

Bui Van Quoc Trung, the leader of group GT1002, said that the group’s idea came from their studies in culture, history and landscapes of the city. Their idea clearly demonstrates the essence of Vietnamese Tet flowers imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity. Floral displays feature the image of Dragon’s new looks in order to create a colourful space for locals and tourists to enjoy a joyful Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet. Floral decorations feature 3 parts: the first one placed to the left of the western end of the Dragon Bridge to convey a message of bringing Spring filled with love to everyone, the second one placed at the T-shaped Bridge which reflects staying busy year-round, and days leading up to Tet, and the last placed to the right of the western end of the Dragon Bridge which depicts family reunion during Tet. Each part features 3-4 main miniatures and secondary miniatures.
Mr. Dinh The Vinh, the Deputy Director of the Municipal Department of Construction said that floral displays and lighting decorations ideas developed by Da Nang’s students are creative and highly applicable. Therefore, the department will realize the full potential of their ideas to celebrate the Tet Festival 2024.
