Water puppetry adds more exciting vibes at Da Nang Sun World Ba Na Hills
Throughout this ongoing summer, the Sun World Ba Na Hills is organising a series of Sun Festival events that bring together many attractive shows, and notable among them is the show ‘Viet puppetry’, which is a unique and unprecedented highlight in Da Nang.
The puppets are uniquely shaped in the show. |
Carefully staged from script, props to costumes, the show brings the quintessence of folk theater performance to tourists arriving at the Sun World Ba Na Hills from April, through familiar stories and an artistic language rich in imagery.
Here, visitors admire water puppet - an art form only found in Viet Nam with over 1,000 years of age, truly reflecting the wet rice civilization and rustic cultural life of the Red River delta.
The show is performed by Viet Nam Puppet Theater artistes every day of the week (except Thursday), with two performances at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily at the Moonlight Square.
Throughout the 30-minute play, visitors seems to turn over each page in the ‘living history book’ of the Vietnamese people through performances recreating the legend of the rice plant, Vietnamese folk games with thrilling and attractive tales.
In addition to excerpts imbued with Vietnamese culture, the programme also takes visitors to explore many cultures around the world through classic performances, such as the ballet Swan Lake.
Through the ‘talking hands’ of the puppet artistes, both domestic and international tourists coming to Ba Na are immersed in the flow of Vietnamese culture through the rhythmic and flexible movements of the children. The puppets have eye-catching shapes combined with ethnic music materials, harmonized in a contemporary folk style.
