Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan on Wednesday asked domestic telecom providers to increase internet speeds in order to facilitate the media to cover the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Week events in Da Nang from 6-11 November.

He made the statement when touring the International Media Centre (IMC) and conference venues in hotels and resorts in Da Nang where APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and related meetings are taking place to inspect preparatory works there.

He examined communications and transmission infrastructures, and security at the IMC.  In addition, he urged the local telecom providers to ensure internet connection, urgently increase the internet speed to facilitate works of the reporters and have backup plans for any emergency.

The minister also urged media and news agencies of Viet Nam such as the Vietn Nam News Agency, the Viet Nam Television (VTV), the Voice of Viet nam (VOV) and the Viet Nam Television Corporation (VTC) to better coordinate with foreign agencies to increase media coverage of events of the APEC Week.
