Doctor Le Trong Phi honoured by University of Da Nang
On Wednesday, PhD Le Trong Phi, Director of the Congenital Heart Disease Department at the University Medical Centre of Hamburg in Germany, was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by the University of Da Nang (UDN).

Professor Phi won the Award for Cardiovascular Research, German Heart Foundation, in 1993. He invented a new endoscopy device to transcatheter closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defects 22 years later.
The talented doctor has become actively involved in numerous meaningful activities in Viet Nam.
In particular, he has donated medical equipment and tools for some hospitals nationwide. In addition, he joined efforts with doctors at Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital to give medical treatment for its patients.
In Da Nang, he has raised money from generous donors to buy a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) machine worth 1 million €, and a breathing machine valued at 200,000 US$ for the General Hospital. Furthermore, he has helped to send many lectures at UDN’s Medicine and Pharmacy Faculty to Germany to attend short-term training courses. He has also assisited UDN to develop its General and Odonto-Stomatology training programmes.
