Viet Nam named on world sustainable development university list
Two Vietnamese universities were named in the list of the world’s 300 leading global universities on sustainable development.
According to the ranking announced by GreenMetric World University Rankings (UI GreenMetric), HCM City-based Ton Duc Thang University and the Tra Vinh University in the southern province of Tra Vinh stands the 182nd and 256th, respectively among 719 surveyed universities this year.
Last year, Ton Duc Thang University and Tra Vinh University were ranked the 245th and 305th, respectively.
In 2016, Ton Duc Thang University stood at the 156th in the same ranking.
UI GreenMetric reported that the Netherlands’ Wageningen University topped the 2018 list, followed by Nottingham University and Oxford University of the UK and California Davis University of the US.
Established in 2010, UI GreenMetric is the first and only organisation in the world that assesses and measures sustainable development of universities worldwide based on six criteria namely their settings and infrastructure, energy efficiency and carbon footprints, waste treatment management, water usage policies, smart transportation systems and educational programmes.
