In recent years, primary, junior and senior high schools across Da Nang have paid special attention to promoting the application of information technology (IT) amongst their teachers and pupils.

This has helped pupils gain knowledge in a better manner, keep them actively engaged in class, and enhance their interaction with teachers.

Biology teacher Vu Thi Kim Ngoc from the Nguyen Luong Bang Junior High School highlighted the significance of applying IT, especially projectors and Virtual Interactive Whiteboard Device U-Pointer, into teaching activities in strengthening the interaction between teachers and their pupils.

On the other hand, teachers can integrate many interesting images, videos and sounds into their lessons and presentations, as well as design small exercises, multiple choice games, right or wrong games during their class hours. Thanks to this, knowledge is transmitted effectively to pupils, whilst lessons become more lively and keep pupils actively engaged in learning.

“Since I learned on e-lectures, I have understood lessons quicker and more thoroughly through vivid illustrations. Besides, I have felt more excited about the lessons thanks to the knowledge combined with games” Tran Quynh An, a grade 8 pupil from the Luong The Vinh Junior High School in Lien Chieu District.

Maths teacher Mai Xuan Nhan from the Luong The Vinh Junior High School in Lien Chieu District, remarked the application of IT into teaching activities has helped teachers simplify teaching tools, especially for subjects that need to use many teaching models and experimental tools such as: Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

“After going to the class, teachers only need to access the network, download their teaching lessons to the computer and start their teaching activities”, he said happily.

Vice Rector of the Luong The Vinh School Pham Phu Quang said since 2013, his school has developed a WiFi network that covers the whole school. In addition, all classrooms are equipped with computers and television screens.

He added his school also encouraged its teaching staff to use e-lectures. Moreover, numerous training sessions about new software and utilities applying into teaching activities have been organised for the school’s teaching staff.

In addition to teaching activities, the city-based schools have been focusing on applying IT into managing their pupils by using e-score books.

Accordingly, marks of pupils will be automatically sent to parents via SOS message if the parents register. This helps to avoid errors in the process of entering scores and to store scores better.

Since the 2018-2019 academic year, schools across the city have started to apply e-school reports to grade 6 pupils, thereby enhancing their teaching and learning activities through the use of digital technology.
