City pupils win 89 prizes at 30 April Olympiad
According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh, local pupils have won a total of 89 prizes at the 25th annual 30 April Olympiad for Year 10 and 11 students in the southern and central regions and highlands.
In particular, the Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Pupils came second in the medal table with 32 gold medals, 19 silver and 3 bronze, whilst Phan Chau Trinh Senior High School pupils claimed 4 gold, 9 silver, and 22 bronze medals.
This year’s contest was held from 5 - 7 April at Ho Chi Minh City’s Le Hong Phong Senior High School for Gifted Students.
The contestants competed in Literature, History, Geography, English, French, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.
During the same period, as many as 7,000 senior high school pupils participated in the 5th April Olympiad for non-gifted pupils in the southern and central regions and highlands.
This competition took place at the Mac Dinh Chi, An Lac, Binh Phu, Pham Phu Thu, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Gia Dinh, and Nguyen Thuong Hien senior high schools, all in Ho Chi Minh City.
As a result, pupils from the Da Nang-based Thai Phien Senior High School brought home a combined total of 6 gold medals, 5 silver and 15 bronze, whilst 2 pupils from the Tran Phu Senior High School grabbed the gold and the bronze.
