Smartphones for online learning donated to needy pupils

In response to the ‘Telecommunications Services and Computers for Children’ programme recently launched by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Trade Union organisation of the Authority of Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones on Saturday, October 2, donated devices for online learning, to 13 poor children of its members. Each of them received a smartphone and a pair of earphones totalling VND 3 million.

The move aimed to help these needy pupils effectively access online courses amid on-campus schooling halted due to COVID-19 as well as adapt themselves to teaching and learning methods in the time to come.

Also at the event, the Trade Union organisation honoured and awarded a combined total of VND 42.4 million as bonuses to 74 children of its members. The recipients achieved good results in the already-concluded 2020 - 2021 academic year and were awarded prizes in municipal-level exams for outstanding students.

On the occasion, authorised by the municipal Trade Union, the organisation presented gifts to 20 outstanding children of its members in recognition of their outstanding study results in the last school year. Each of them received a Certificate of Merit and VND 1 million.

Additionally, 33 scholarships, valued at VND 500,000 each, were given to disadvantaged children in order to encourage them to continue to overcome their difficulties and achieve good results over the next academic year.
