Monday, November 22 marked the first time back in the classroom for 12th-grade students across Da Nang after they have been in fully remote learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Reopening schools are putting in place strict COVID-19 safety and health protocols to protect their staff and students from COVID-19 while they are attending in-person classes.

In their efforts to ensure effective control of the pandemic, senior high schools are seen strictly following COVID-19 safety and health protocols in line with the guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training.

The schools are opening with the protective measures and learning options in a bid to maintain the environment that are as safe as possible for its teachers and students.

Temperature measuring devices, face masks, hand sanitizers, and areas to wash hands are available to students. COVID-19 preventive measures are provided in the school with visual reminders to help students to protect themselves and others from the virus.

In addition, private rooms are allocated to isolate COVID-19 positive persons or quarantine close contacts.

Schools are using lane separations for students at entry and exit points in order to limit crowding at these areas. Students are recommended to regularly wear a face covering and disinfect their hands, do not share food or drink as well as avoid gathering/socializing when coming to/leaving school and during class breaks.

Da Nang Department of Education and Training Deputy Director, Mr Mai Tan Linh, said about 99% of the city’s 12th graders have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine so senior high schools find it convenient to resume in-person classes.
