Project on enhancing capacity of STEAM education and human resources launched in Da Nang
The project ‘STEM Career Academy in Central Viet Nam - Regional outreach to increase social awareness and enhance capacity in STEAM education and human resources’ has been launched in Da Nang.
The launching ceremony was jointly organised by the University of Science and Technology - the University of Da Nang, the Chevron company - the leading international oil company in the Asia-Pacific region, and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED).
The 18-month-lasting project consists of three main activities, namely STEM-related workshops, STEM-related competitions, and short-term STEM career development courses.
Under the project, a technology and engineering career academy will be put into operation on a trial basis.
The academy will provide curricula of four industry sectors. It will cooperate with 20 employers and businesses operating in the field of STEM, along with 10 senior high schools directly benefiting from this project.
Upon completion of the pilot programme, the results of the project will be presented to stakeholders for consideration of its future programme expansion.
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The STEM education model has been deployed in schools across the city over recent years in order to helps students solve the issues facing the world today by merging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
