The municipal administration has issued many outstanding resolutions, directives, and plans in order to mobilise all resources and create favourable conditions for the development of the educational sector.

Prominent amongst them is the project of building, upgrading and expanding schools in the 2021 - 2025 period in the city.

Thanks to its efficiency, in the ongoing 2021 - 2022 school year, many preschools, primary, secondary, high and multi-level schools meet national standards.

Currently, the municipal People's Committee has directed the implementation of the planning of the school network, the preschool education system, the general education system and the continuing education system to update them into the Da Nang Master Plan for its major developments by 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

The city also sets a goal of building, upgrading and expanding schools and purchasing teaching equipment and tools to meet the requirements of educational renewal programme so that, by the 2025-2026 academic year, there will be 452 educational units and schools with a total number of about 339,315 students.

Of this, there are 270 public schools, an increase of 18 as compared to the 2019 - 2020 school year, 78 preschools and kindergartens, 103 primary schools, 62 secondary schools, 24 high and inter-level high schools and 3 continuing education centres in the city.

It is expected that a sum of VND 4,399 billion will be in need for school building, upgrading and expanding in the 2021 - 2025 period, of which VND 4,192 billion will be funded by the municipal budget and the remainder will come from private investment in the community through appeals made by high schools.

Besides investing in developing schools, the local authorities have paid an attention to  the quality of teachers and administrators. The contingent of managers and teachers of all disciplines and levels of study has been consolidated according to the requirements of sufficient quantity, uniformity in structure, standardisation of training qualifications, and satisfaction of innovation requirements in terms of educational management and teaching.

Management is constantly being renewed towards promoting the initiative of educational institutions. The training and retraining of staff and teachers in association with the planning of each educational unit has been given a heed.

In addition to the municipal Department of Education and Training- organised refresher courses on enhancing management skills and the professional capacity of teachers at all levels, the municipal administration has created the most favourable possible conditions for many administrators and teachers to participate in the study and research courses at home and abroad with their tuition fees covered by the municipal budget.

Relevant competent agencies and authorities have proactively handled some unqualified teachers and dismissed managers with limited qualifications and capacity and unable to meet requirements.

The cadre work of the educational; sector has gradually come into order, ensuring democracy, openness and transparency.

The team of leaders and managers now basically meets the requirements for the implementation of political tasks this sector must fulfill.

The city is eyeing a target that, by the end of 2027, 100% of the local managers and teachers are well trained to meet the standards as prescribed in the Education Law 2019 (3 years ahead of schedule set by the national government's regulations).

Da Nang is now one of the Vietnamese localities to spend a lot of money on education every year.

Last year, despite facing difficulties triggered by the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city still spent VND 2,190 billion on education, accounting for 30% of the city's total recurrent expenditure.

In the coming time, the city will continue to devote even more resources and improve the quality of education at all levels.
