Over recent years, many science and technology research projects in Da Nang have boasted high applicability and met actual requirements.

According to the municipal Department of Science and Technology, over the past time, many science and technology tasks have been deployed in service of production and management in such different industries as transportation, natural resources and environment, tourism, and communications.

Specially mentioned are two national-level projects, namely “Building an integrated system for monitoring and managing high-voltage power transmission network for central provinces based on GIS and IoT technologies” and “Development of a smart tourism system”.

These highly applicable interdisciplinary and inter-regional projects help to solve the city’s urgent problems and develop Da Nang into a smarter city.

In 2021, many science and technology research projects made significant contributions for sake of building Da Nang into a smarter city.

Included were a process to convert the city’s planning map from the HN72 coordinate system to VN2000; the development of a mobile app connected to the Da Nang Public Service Information Centre's switchboard (0236) 1022; the creation of an intelligent signal information system for railway crossings combined with train driver assistance equipment; the development of a drainage system management application on the basis of digital maps and IoT network; and the building of a database on saltwater intrusion into the city's surface and groundwater and flood maps to mitigate floods and storms.

In field of biotechnology, many projects have been effectively carried out.

Specially mentioned were a project on manufacturing and installing energy plants in Da Nang, and another one on applying heat storage system for medium and large capacity air conditioners in order to improve the operating efficiency and avoid rush hour operation in the city.

In the first 3 months of 2022, the municipal Department of Science and Technology entered into cooperative agreements with the University of Da Nang, the Duy Tan University, the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the city’s Union of Science and Technology Associations. The purpose of the deals was to facilitate scientists and businesses to well fulfill their science and technology tasks.

In order to popularise initiatives and encourage the creative labour emulation movements, the Department has proposed the municipal People's Committee to recognise creative ideas which have a great influence on Da Nang.

Thanks to the Department’s great efforts, many State agencies and units have paid attention to organising the implementation of initiative activities in accordance with the law, as well as to allocating funds for initiative activities.
