The competition has shown significant improvements in quality over the past years, contributing to developing Da Nang into a smart city, and making the city a Startup Innovation Hub in the country.

In 2023, the competition’s organizers received 131 entries from students of 12 universities, junior colleges, and intermediate schools across the city.

The Da Nang Department of Science and Technology worked with the Municipal Youth Union to establish a Judging Panel  for the preliminary round of the competition which produced 34 winners progressing into the final round, aiming to maintain the competition's quality and its competitiveness.

Recently, 34 finalists presented their prototype products or ideas to Judging Panel, thereby helping the judges choose the winners in this year’s competition.

During the final round, the organizing committee established a panel of judges across the categories, namely natural sciences and technical sciences, technology, medical sciences, pharmaceuticals, agricultural sciences, and social sciences and humanities.

According to the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, scientific research is of great significance in teaching and learning activities in in universities, junior colleges and intermediate schools, as well as fostering a strong research culture to support collaborative research within these schools.

As for students, scientific research help students to improve knowledge, cultivate creativity and unlock their potential, thereby gradually helping them master science and technology. It also enhances their self-study and planning capacities.

Additionally, the competition produced high-quality ideas for introduction to business incubators within the city, establishing a foundation for nurturing an innovative startup ecosystem.

Mr. Le Duc Vien, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology and the Head of Organizing Committee of this year’s Competition said: "This contest has helped foster a strong research culture in schools, as well as cultivate creativity and innovation in students, thereby gradually and effectively engaging students with integrating scientific research into real-life applications. This year's competition covered a wide array of categories, encompassing new technologies and solutions for socio-economic development.

It could be said that this contest stimulates students to get involved in using acquired knowledge when faced with problems. Their best ideas will be introduced to business incubators and investors in the city for promoting economic and technology development.

In the upcoming time, the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology will join efforts with the municipal Youth Union to support universities to promote scientific research among their students.

The Da Nang Youth Union will also call on businesses and investors to help students turn their ideas into reality. In addition, heed will be paid to ask for financial aid from the municipal government to fund student-led startups, as well as improve the quality of their research.
