Improved telecom infrastructure boosts economic development in rural and mountainous areas

As recorded in such communes of Hoa Phong, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien, Hoa Lien and Hoa Bac in Hoa Vang District, the majority of local people can use the internet to search for information as well as learn knowledge to serve life, production and studying.
Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet, residing in Ta Lang Village, Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, said that over the past 2 years, the life of the Co Tu people here has changed in a positive direction. She and many Co Tu people have spent their time watching movies, listening to music and reading newspapers on smartphones.
Dinh Thi Hien, a pupil of the Lien Chieu Senior High School based in Gian Bi Village, Hoa Bac Commune, said that since the 4G network coverage, she has been able to study online and review lessons in preparation for her upcoming university entrance exam. In particular, her scores in subjects have improved significantly as she has learned to search for study materials and good lectures on online platforms such as Youtube, hocmai.vn, etc.

The comprehensive digital transformation cooperation programme between telecom and tech enterprises and the Da Nang People's Committee has benefited local residents, including supporting the purchasing of smartphones, and the registration of bank accounts, e-wallets and digital signatures, plus giving away free data connection SIM cards.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Thuong, Director of Viettel Da Nang, informed that up to now, the unit has almost completed 4G population coverage in the city. In the near future, the unit will set the goal of covering the entire city with 5G, including remote and mountainous areas.
Aside from infrastructure development, the unit has donated more than 670 smartphones for poor and near-poor households in 21 wards and communes in the city.
Mr. Ho Phu Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Bac Commune, shared that 100% of households in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages have so far had smartphones. Thanks to telecommunications network coverage and equipment support, the commune has widely deployed pilot models of information technology application and digital transformation in a number of villages in order to support businesses and people to participate in e-commerce platforms and social networking platforms.
