Over 800 traffic police officers ready for APEC summit week
A total of over 800 traffic police officers from across Viet Nam are now being on duty in Da Nang to ensure traffic safety before, during and after next month’s APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) - the culmination of Viet Nam’s year-long hosting of APEC meetings.

The traffic police force is in charge of ensuring local traffic safety, preventing congestion, and escorting delegations from APEC member economies during the upcoming AELW.
A ceremony took place at the city’s former Han River Port on Sunday to introduce the police officers, along with their hundreds of vehicles and special devices.

Addressing the ceremony, Colonel General Bui Van Nam, the Deputy Minister of Public Security cum Head of the APEC 2017 Security and Order Subcommittee, urged the police officers to do their utmost to ensure absolute safety for AELW.

Colonel General Nam emphasised the need for the police officers to have to be on high alert to deal with any potential sabotage or terror activity before, during and after this international large-scale event.
