Prize-wining photos from Da Nang competition of Canon PhotoMarathon Viet Nam

As many as 1,200 professional and amateur competitors nationwide, including foreigners with legal residential permission in Viet Nam, took part in a recent competition in Da Nang as part of the ongoing 12th annual Canon PhotoMarathon Viet Nam.

Similar competitions will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi on 29 October and 5 November respectively.

Under the Da Nang competition’s rules, contestants were required to create photographic masterpieces in line with the 3 assigned themes - under time pressure. 

In the end, photographer Le Anh Vu won the special prize for his work under the theme of ‘Con Nguoi Va Bien Ca’ (The Human Beings and the Sea). Vu’s photo vividly reflects a man full of vitality who is exercising assiduously to become stronger to get ready for heading out to sea.  Vu, along with other special-prize winners at the upcoming Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi events, will advance to the Canon PhotoMarathon Asia Championship 2018 in Japan. 

The first prize under the same theme went to Dau Quyet Thang whose photo features fishermen coping with a storm packing with torrential rain.

In addition, a nice photo featuring 2 fishermen with their smiley faces, taken by Truong Quang Huy, took the first prize under the theme of ‘Niem Vui Chia Se’ (The Joy of Sharing).

Truong Vu Bich Thao finished in 1st place under the theme of ‘Hoa Tiet Cuoc Song’ (Patterns of Life) for her entry highlighting a harmonious combination of vivid colours.
