The project is one of the city’s key projects in preparation for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW 2017) which will take place in the city from 6-11 November.

The 118.3 billion VND underpass is designed in a Y-shape and has a total length of 409 meters.

The whole tunnel features an 80m-long reinforced concrete underground section, 180m-long open-air sections, approach roads and cuttings.  There are also 2 lanes for a BRT (bus rapid transit) system along with another 2 lanes for other vehicles.

The installation of traffic lights, signs, sidewalks, and the BRT route along the new path are underway.

Also, lighting, drainage, and surveillance camera systems are being installed along the passageway.
