June is the time when lotus flowers bloom in ponds and lagoons across countryside areas inthe Quang land. In Da Nang, the most famous lotus growing area is Bau Nghe, nestled in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, featuring brilliant lotus blossoms.

In the past, the Bau Nghe area was a low-lying land heavily contaminated with alum. In the 1980s, villagers made soil conditioning to grow lotus as observed currently.

The Bau Nghe area is now located only about 1km from DT602 road, adjacent to houses in An Ngai Tay 2 village, Hoa Son Commune.

Lotus growing becomes a source of income for many households in Hoa Son Commune and emerges as an inspiration for many professional and amateur photographers.

From the end of May to the beginning of June, lotuses simultaneously bloom.

Lotus is known as an exquisite flower, symbolizes the purity, serenity, commitment and optimism of the future as it is the flower which grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty.

This type of flowers plays an important role and special position in both Vietnamese spirit and culture, dubbed as a symbol of beauty overcoming darkness.

The fragrance and beauty of lotus flowers in season adds considerably to the rustic charm.

This year, due to the influence of the COVID-19, lotus ponds in Bau Nghe have fallen silent with the absence of visitors.
