Mu Cang Chai terraced rice fields, located on the mountain slopes in Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province, has been recognised as a special national relic site.
These fields have been cultivated by the Mong ethnic minority group for centuries, with a highlight of 500 hectares of terraced rice fields that look like beautiful “golden raspberries” in La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha and De Xu Phinh communes in Mu Cang Chai District.
The watering season in May and June, along with the ripening rice season in September and October, are the most beautiful seasons of Mu Cang Chai terraced rice fields.
In the watering season, farmers build dams and embankments, and direct water into the rice fields, in order to prepare for plowing, sowing and transplanting paddy seedlings.
Take a look at the breathtaking beauty of Mu Cang Chai terraced rice fields in watering season through some photos captured by our freelance photographer Huu Thanh during his recent trip to this locality.
