Located on the Thuy Son (the Mountain of Water) at 81 Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang, the Huyen Khong Cave is one of the most beautiful, magical, most spiritual movements in the Marble Mountains Tourist Area. The tourist spot attracts a large number of visitors who want to discover spiritual roots and the beauty of the landscape.

The Huyen Khong Cave is positioned on the top of the Thuong Thai - the highest peak in the majestic Marble Mountains complex.

The Marble Mountains is a cluster of 5 marble and limestone mountains lying close to the sea, located about 10 km south of the city centre. Each mountain is named after one of the 5 elements in ancient oriental philosophy: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

With charming scenery and ancient mossy big rocks, this complex was chosen by the old people to build many unique architectural works imbued with historical values of Da Nang.

On stepping into the cave, visitors will be immediately impressed by the stone statues of Good and Evil gods placed along the two sides of the stairs, reminding them to always do good deeds.

One of the most highlights of the cave is the Shakyamuni Buddha statue situated on the opposite side of the entrance. It was made in 1960 by artist Nguyen Chat who was a skilled craftsman in the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village.

The altar of ‘Dia Tang Vuong Bo Tat’ (the most powerful Buddha in the hell) is below the Shakyamuni Buddha statue.

The shrine of ‘Ngoc Phi’ (the Goddess of Wealth) where people pray for wealth is on the left side of the cave, whilst the shrine of ‘Loi Phi’ (the Goddess of Mountains and Forests) where people pray for health and peace is on the right.

Nestled deep right of the entrance to the cave is the ancient ‘Trang Nghiem Tu’ temple built in 1825. The temple consists of three compartments. The main hall worships the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The left side worships three saints namely Quan Cong, Quan Binh and Chau Xuong symbolising for righteousness, intelligence and loyalty respectively. The right side worships Mr. To and Mrs. Nguyet where couples come to pray for love.

26-year-old Ho Thi Khanh Vy said that she felt very peaceful when visiting the Huyen Khong Cave. She added that this tourist site was open free-of-charge for all visitors.
