As part of the celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties, and the 2013 Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Year, three ships from the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) are paying a friendly visit to Da Nang from 19 - 21 October.

Representatives of the Viet Nam People's Army, local authorities, and Japanese businesses operating in Viet Nam, along with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Viet Nam, Mr Hiroshi Fukada, were present to welcome the Japanese navy delegation at the Tien Sa Port last Saturday.

The training ships JDS Kashima and JDS Shirayuki, and the Hatsuyuki-class destroyer Isoyuki, are under the command of Rear Admiral Fumiyuki Kitagawa.

During their 3-day stay in the city, the Japanese guests are scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the city’s leaders, and visit the Military Zone 5 High Command and the Zone 3 Naval High Command.  In addition, they will participate in cultural and sports exchange activities with local military officers and men, as well as visit some tourist attractions in the city and neighbouring localities.
