10th session of People's Council reviews city's performance
On the first day of the 10th session of the Da Nang People's Council in its 8th tenure, the Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Mr Tran Tho, remarked that, over the first 6 months of this year, the city faced a number of socio-economic difficulties and challenges. Despite this, the great efforts made by the the city’s authorities, along with local political and social associations and city residents, have helped the city to gain a reasonable growth rate in its production and business activities, and in its budget collections. He added that this had created a momentum for fulfilling the socio-economic tasks which had been set for the first half of this year.

In his reports on Da Nang’s performance between January and June, the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee (PC), Mr Van Huu Chien, said that the PC had focused on directing and monitoring the city’s key programmes and those which were expected to make strategic breakthroughs in its progress. In particular, his unit took initiatives to increase budget collections and tighten its management of the city’s budget. Additionally, the city achieved good results in site clearance, compensation and resettlement works, along with social welfare tasks. Also, under the city’s “Year for Business 2014” programme, new policies were issued to help local businesses overcome their difficulties and obstacles. Meanwhile, many effective measures were taken to accelerate the growth of local economic sectors, as well as to appeal for more domestic and foreign investors to come to the city.
