On Wednesday afternoon, the Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Mr Vo Cong Tri, played host to the Editor-in-Chief of Cuba’s Granma Newspaper, Mr Pelayo Terry Cuervo.

Deputy Secretary Tri talked about the important role of the city’s media agencies in publicising the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State and the city, as well as reflecting the aspirations of local people.  The local media agencies are the Da Nang Newspaper, the Da Nang Radio and Television Station, and the Da Nang Portal.

The city leader said that he would like the Granma Newspaper to raise its voice in support of Viet Nam and demand that China withdraws its HD-981 oil drilling rig from Viet Nam's exclusive economic zone.  He said he hoped that the Cuban government and its people would give more support to Viet Nam’s righteous struggle for its legitimate sovereignty over the islands.
