City leader welcomes new Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK

On Wednesday morning, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, warmly received Viet Nam’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and new Ambassador to the UK, Mr Nguyen Van Thao.

Vice Chairman Viet congratulated Mr Thao on his new position and asked him to do his utmost during his tenure to enhance bilateral cooperative programmes between Da Nang and British localities.  He also asked the new ambassador to appeal for more potential investors from the UK and the British Virgin Islands to seek investment opportunities in the city, with a focus on hi-tech industries, tourism, services, environmental treatment and education.

Mr Thao praised the city's remarkable socio-economic achievements over recent years.  He spoke highly of the great efforts made by the city’s authorities and its people in improving the local investment environment and fully tapping the local advantages.  He also highly appreciated the city’s efforts in perfecting its current industrial parks and issuing incentive policies for foreign investors, as well as building a dedicated IT zone.

The visitor affirmed that Da Nang would be attractive to investors from foreign countries worldwide, especially those from the UK.  Thanks to its beautiful, clean, white sand beaches, its healthy environment, and its security and order ensured, the city will emerge as a must-visit destination for visitors from European countries in the near future.
