City leaders pay tribute to heroic martyrs and late Vietnamese heroic mothers

On Thursday, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh, offered incense and laid wreaths at the 2 September Peace Monument and the Go Cao Martyrs’ Cemetery in Hoa Vang District on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (27 July). The wreaths carried the words ‘Eternal Gratitude to the Heroic Martyrs’.

The delegates observed a minute’s silence to commemorate late President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs, Vietnamese heroic mothers, and ex-servicemen who laid down their lives for national reunification, plus those who gave great service to the national revolution.

On the same day, leaders of the Da Nang Customs Department visited and presented gifts to 4 heroic mothers living in the districts of Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen and Tien Phuoc in Quang Nam Province.  They also offered incense to another 8 late heroic mothers at their private houses.

Over the past 2 decades, the Department has made great efforts to take care of 5 of the 12 above-mentioned mothers.  In addition to giving them monthly allowances, the Department has built new houses for those mothers facing housing difficulties, as well as taken them to local hospitals for medical examinations, and to visit some localities nationwide.

Also on Thursday, Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Deputy Head of the Department, offered incense to late Vietnamese heroic mothers in Quang Nam Province to whom the General Department of Viet Nam Customs, and the Customs departments in Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, had given aid in the past.
