Boosting labour cooperation in Greater Mekong Sub-region
On Tuesday, a large number of government senior officials from Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand gathered in Da Nang to discuss effective ways to promote human resources development and create sustainable jobs for migrant workers.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep remarked “Recent years have seen numerous fruitful results from economic, cultural and political cooperation amongst the 5 countries. These nations determine to expand their regional integration, and bolster their economic cooperation, to ensure the mutual prosperity and sustainability in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).”
The event featured discussions about labour migration and cooperation in the GMS, the development of human resources, the future impacts of employment on migrant workers, and better support for cross-border migrant workers in the years ahead.
The international event was the premise for the Ministerial Meeting on Labour Cooperation between the 5 countries which is taking place in Da Nang today, 2 August. At today’s meeting, the participants adopted a joint statement on safe labour migration.
