Manager Jha said that the purpose of his visit was to check the city’s implementation of the WB-funded projects on relocation of the railway station, integrated urban innovation, and sustainable development for Da Nang.

He highly spoke of the Management Board of the projects for their effective performance over recent months.  In addition, he asked the city authorities to strictly comply with the bidding regulations for the projects.

The WB official also highlighted the importance of widely publicising the operation of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in the city amongst local residents.

In reply, Vice Chairman Tuan pledged that the local authorities are willing to work closely with WB to conduct public biddings for the WB-funded projects in the city.

The host noted “Last year, WB assisted Da Nang to conduct pre-feasibility studies on relocating the city’s railway station and developing an integrated urban area.  The projects will help the city deal with some urban-related matters, and create a new driving force to boost the development of the north-west side and the inner-city area.  Moreover, the new railway station will be built in Lien Chieu District.  The new location will easily link with the future national high-speed railway routes which have already been approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport, the soon-to-be-built Lien Chieu Port, and the existing industrial parks.”
