Viet Nam and Kazakhstan should bolster exchanges of delegations at all levels and hold political consultations to enhance the efficiency of bilateral cooperation, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh.

He made the statement while receiving Kazakhstan Ambassador to Viet Nam Beketzhan Zhumakhanove on 28 September in Ha Noi to discuss measures promoting bilateral cooperation and activities to mark the 25^th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic ties.

Expressing delight over recent developments in relations with Kazakhstan across politics, economy and trade, culture, tourism and security, Minh said that visits made by high-ranking leaders from both sides in the past years helped drive collaboration between the two nations.

He suggested the countries coordinate to organise NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s official visit to the central Asian country.  As the first visit by the Vietnamese NA leader to Kazakhstan, it is significant to enhancing ties between the two countries’ parliaments.

Both nations should support each other at the UN and other multilateral forums, especially with Kazakhstan currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Minh added.

He said that the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement has brought positive change in economic collaboration between the two nations.

It is necessary for the two sides to review the free trade deal and find measures to carry out the agreement effectively, Minh stressed.

On the occasion, Minh congratulated Kazakhstan on successfully holding Expo 2017 Astana and lauded its support for Viet Nam’s celebration of its National Day during the event.

He hoped to receive further coordination from Kazakhstan in trade activities and investment projects of Vietnamese businesses in the host nation.

For his part, the Kazakhstan diplomat called for support from ministries and branches in Vietnam to deepen Viet Nam-Kazakhstan relations, meeting the expectations of the two governments and peoples.
