In his recent interview with reporter Son Trung from the DA NANG Newspaper, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri remarked that, in recent days, international partners and friends have given high praise to Viet Nam for having organised the year-long hosting of APEC meetings very successfully.  Most notable amongst APEC activities was the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on 10 and 11 November.

As the host of AELW, Da Nang has partly helped to ensure the comprehensive success of APEC Viet Nam Year 2017 which is the top diplomatic event of Viet Nam not only in 2017 but also during the 2015 - 2020 period.

Although the floods caused by typhoon Damrey which swept through central Viet Nam early this month, had a devastating effect on some parts of Da Nang, the authorities and people of the city raced against time to deal with the aftermath of the natural disaster to re-establish normality in the lives of local inhabitants, as well as to ensure environmental sanitation and urban landscapes during the APEC Week.

The city leader proudly said that, through this large-scale international event, international friends have given their deep impressions about modern, civilised, liveable and friendly Da Nang, and dynamic, innovative and more deeply integrated Viet Nam as a whole, thereby enhancing the country’s stature in the global arena.

Through the newspaper, and other media agencies, Deputy Secretary Tri, on behalf of the city leaders, sincerely thanked the leaders of the Party, State and national government, the APEC 2017 National Committee, local government agencies, the city-based armed forces, business community, volunteers and locals for making their great devotion to AELW.

Deputy Secretary Tri emphasised that the APEC Week indeed generates a new development momentum for Da Nang.  He, therefore, highlighted the significance of taking the advantage of the fully satisfactory APEC Week by implementing the city’s practical and specific activities to boost local progress in the years ahead.

As for the city’s investment attraction strategies, the city leader underlined the importance of following the instructions from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the 2017 Da Nang Investment Forum in mid-October on the sidelines of the APEC Week to implement local key tasks.

Importance should be attached to issuing more management mechanisms and policies, promoting investment attraction innovations, as well as enhancing infrastructure system and training human resources.

The effective ways mentioned above, thereby, will help Da Nang continue strongly securing its position as a motive force for ensuring Central Viet Nam and highlands’ sustainable economic development in the coming years.

Greater efforts should be made to realise Da Nang’s goal of becoming a start-up and innovation destination in the near future which boasts a perfect legal system and favourable business environment for investors from both home and aboard.

In particular, it is very essential that local agencies, organisations and businesses should pass the torch of strong passion for start-up activities on locals from walks of life, especially local youths, as well as help them bring their start-up ideas to fruition.

With regard to the tourism sector, in the years ahead, focus should be on continuing advertising the image of Da Nang-the host of the APEC Week- to partners and friends in the Asia-Pacific region, and the world as a whole, in bid to appeal for even more FDI investment inflows into local tourism.

The city will make every efforts to realise its dream of becoming a city of international events in the world in the near future.
