The city willing to lend helping hand to Champasak

On Thursday, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, paid a courtesy visit to the Champasak Province authorities. The visit was as part of their ongoing working trip to Laotian southern and central localities.

During his reception for the Da Nang visitors, Mr Bounthong Divixay, the Party Committee Secretary cum Governor of Champasak Province, lauded the visit made by the Da Nang delegation which helped to tighten the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation relations between Da Nang and Champasak, as well as between Viet Nam and Laos as a whole.

The host took the opportunity to thank the Party, authorities and people of Da Nang for their active support to his locality over recent years. He pledged to earmark land fund for Da Nang to build a Vietnamese language centre in Champasak soonest.

Secretary Bounthong Divixay highlighted the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and Champasak in aspects in which they show off their strengths.

The Lao host also asked a helping hand from the Da Nang authorities to develop Pakse into a more beautiful and spacious city, and build such items as flower gardens, memorial houses and museums at the province’s Red Square.

In reply, Secretary Nghia vowed to facilitate departments and agencies of the two localities to enhance their exchange activities, and to encourage their local businesses to pour their money into potential aspects in their partner localities.

The Da Nang Party chief also underlined the significance of soon opening the Da Nang- Champasak non-stop air route in a bid to create favourable conditions for the development of the two localities in the coming time.

To mark this occasion, Da Nang presented 300 million VND to Champasak to help the province to overcome the consequences of the recent floods.
