Municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho made the affirmation during his reception on Friday morning for Mr Park Noh-wan, the newly-accredited South Korean Ambassador to Viet Nam.

The city leader congratulated the South Korean diplomat on his new position in Viet Nam. The host also expressed his delight at fruitful results from the bilateral cooperative programmes between Da Nang and South Korean businesses, and Viet Nam and South Korea as a whole, over recent years.

Since 1997, Da Nang has established friendly and cooperative relations with South Korean cities of Changwon, Daegu, Hwaseong, Seoul, and Gyeongsan.

Besides, representatives from the Da Nang Department of Public Security and the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency together entered into an cooperative agreement on crime prevention and experience exchange in 2005.

South Korea has ranked 2nd amongst foreign investors for the number of investment projects, totalling more than 300 million USD, in Da Nang. Currently, about 15 Da Nang businesses have established trade relations with their South Korean partners.

South Korea is also the city's fifth largest import-export market in 2018, with an estimated export turnover of US$ 113 million.

In 2018 alone, Da Nang welcomed nearly 1.7 million visitors in total from South Korea and this country took the lead in foreign visitor arrivals in Da Nang.

In reply, the South Korean ambassador asked the city authorities to facilitate the opening of the South Korean Embassy in Da Nang late this year, as well as to give active support for South Korean tour guides who are working in the city.
